EDI Integration Developer

The EDI Integration Developer is a key technical role within PrimePay, a growth-focused Human Capital Management (HCM) SaaS technology company. This position is responsible for designing, coding, implementing, and maintaining EDI file feed integrations with benefit carriers and other third-party systems. The EDI Integration Developer works directly with clients, carriers, and internal teams to translate requirements into working file solutions, ensuring accurate and timely data delivery. Success in this role requires strong technical development skills, excellent client-facing communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain EDI file feeds, including 834 and flat files, in alignment with carrier specifications and internal data structures.
- Collaborate directly with clients and carriers to gather requirements, clarify specifications, and provide technical expertise during onboarding and ongoing support.
- Translate carrier file requirements into mapping logic and implement them through code/configuration.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve file transmission or data mapping issues in coordination with carriers, vendors, and customer experience teams.
- Participate in client-facing meetings to explain integration processes, timelines, and technical details in a clear and professional manner.
- Build and manage secure file transfer processes using SFTP or other approved protocols.
- Partner with internal teams (Implementation, Benefits, Payroll, Client Support) to ensure integrations align with business needs and project timelines.
- Maintain detailed documentation of file specifications, mapping logic, and integration processes.
- Continuously enhance EDI processes to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
- Support automation and workflow improvements by collaborating with offshore resources and internal developers.
- Provide technical assistance for escalated issues requiring coding or advanced troubleshooting.
- Assist with client and internal training on integration best practices when needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management, Computer Science, or in a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in EDI development, integration, or implementation.
- 3+ years of direct hands-on experience building and supporting EDI file processes.
- Experience with MoveIT is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with EDI file development, including 834 and flat file creation and maintenance.
- Experience with Pentaho transformation tool or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of benefit plan data (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life & Disability, 401k, COBRA, Flex Plans).
- Proficiency with SQL, JavaScript, and GitHub (or similar version control).
- Familiarity with SFTP, FTP, API, AS2 protocols and secure data transfer processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work directly with clients and carriers, translating technical concepts into business language.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing presentation abilities.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data validation and analysis.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality integrations within deadlines.
